Student Housing

UC Berkeley

Student Action External Affairs Vice President Josh Fryday and former Student Action Academic Affairs Vice President Amanda Canning proposed a $15 million bond amendment, which provides matching funds in voter-paid bonds to go toward student housing.

In a broad effort led by successive Student Action External Affairs Vice Presidents Gray Chynoweth, Nick Papas, and Josh Fryday, as well as Student Action member Andy Katz and serving ASUC Academic Affairs Vice President Tony Falcone, Student Action members increased the number of beds planned in the Underhill Area (Unit 1, Unit 2) from zero to over 1,000. The completion of these beds was completed within two years, by 2004.

Written by Student Action Academic Affairs Vice President Tony Falcone, the University’s housing goals now include offering housing to all Fall Extension students and all first year graduate students, Due to the success of Student Action’s lobbying for student housing, most Extension students who desired housing were granted it this year.
